Consumer Finance Officer

Do you have a strong background in microfinance, loan recovery, and risk management? We’re looking for a dedicated Consumer Finance Officer to support the scale-up of our operations in Kenya with regards to Loan and Risk Management. Your work will directly contribute to improved customer engagement and better loan portfolio quality.

At African Clean Energy, we are a rapidly growing B Corp enterprise focused on enabling decentralized access to clean energy for households in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southeast Asia. Our mission is to eliminate the worst forms of poverty through a platform of clean energy and smartphone technology. We provide clean energy solutions, including the ACE One, to households living on $2/day through an affordable PAYGo model.

As ACE Kenya expands its operations, the Consumer Finance Officer will play a critical role in supporting credit risk management, loan recovery, customer engagement, and field operations across our locations in Mombasa, Kilifi, and Kwale. 

At African Clean Energy, you will:

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate customers’ financial information and assess credit risk.
• Support field agents to ensure high-quality sales through strong KYC practices.
• Maximize repayments by engaging customers in arrears and guiding them back to regular payments.
• Support loan restructuring and repossession processes in line with ACE procedures.
• Ensure timely and accurate updates of customer payments in our system.
• Address and resolve customer complaints effectively.
• Conduct customer satisfaction surveys to improve ACE’s servic

We’d really like to hear from you if you have:

• • Bachelor’s degree in (Development) Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field. 
  • Proven experience in Financial institutions or a similar role, preferably in renewable energy. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. 
  • Proven ability to achieve targets and deliver results consistently. 
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently. 
  • Results-driven with the ability to focus on achieving set objectives and goals.
  • Must be a native of the location applied for.
  • Willingness to travel frequently and work flexible hours
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Swahili or other local languages is a plus.
