Job Description

The Financial Controller plays a crucial role in overseeing the financial health and integrity of the organisation, ensuring compliance with internal policies, donor or grant requirements, and international financial regulations. The Financial Controller works closely together with the CFO, external auditors, and funding bodies to ensure transparency, accountability, and the efficient allocation of financial resources across different nations and markets. 

Currently we are only accepting applicants already located in the Netherlands.

At African Clean Energy, you will:

• Perform consolidation and prepare monthly and annual financial reports for internal and external use.
• Prepare annual review documents and assist in the annual budget process, supporting all markets and consolidating the group budget.
• Track financial results against the budget and review outcomes with various markets, fostering a process of continuous improvement.
• Coordinate head office book keeping. 
• Track monthly financial KPIs and ensure timely compliance with tax and accounting regulations.
• Perform financial analysis and assist local teams with accounting and reporting queries.
• Participate in cross-functional improvement projects, such as implementing a new ERP system. 
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts in the Netherlands and act as the point of contact for auditors, coordinating across markets.

We’d really like to hear from you if you have:

• 4+ years of accounting and/or financial controller experience.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field.
• Experience in functionally managing teams across different countries. 
• Strong sense for ethical financial decisions. 
• Strong knowledge of – and experience with financial reporting, analysis and international compliance.
• Confidence with accounting software and experience in implementing new ERP systems (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills and cultural awareness to collaborate with local teams and to provide the right guidance.
