Job Description

As the Global Finance Controller at African Clean Energy, you will play a critical role in elevating our financial practices and ensuring we have timely insights into our financial performance. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, supporting projects, analyzing outcomes, and providing guidance to our finance teams in various markets. Working closely with the CFO, you will contribute to strategic planning and the overall financial health of ACE.

You will be directly involved in optimization projects that shape the finance function and have opportunities for growth and travel. Your work will have a direct impact on our mission to provide clean energy and lift vulnerable communities out of poverty.

Currently we are only accepting applicants already located in the Netherlands.

At African Clean Energy, you will:

• Perform consolidation and prepare monthly and annual financial reports for internal and external use.
• Prepare annual review documents and assist in the annual budget process, supporting all markets and consolidating the group budget.
• Track financial results against the budget and review outcomes with various markets, fostering a process of continuous improvement.
• Manage head office bookkeeping and future transitioning to a shared service center.
• Track monthly financial KPIs and ensure timely compliance with tax and accounting regulations.
• Perform financial analysis and assist local teams with accounting and reporting queries.
• Participate in cross-functional improvement projects, such as implementing a new ERP system in 2025, acting as the guardian of the global ERP system.
• Support the preparation of statutory accounts in the Netherlands and act as the point of contact for auditors, coordinating across markets.

We’d really like to hear from you if you have:

• 3-10 years of accounting and/or financial controller experience.
• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, business, economics, finance, or a related field.
• Experience managing a small team and working virtually.
• Strong attention to detail and an interest in international markets.
• Confidence with accounting software and experience in implementing new ERP systems (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills.
