Job Description

Are you passionate about creating positive change and improving access to clean energy? Do you have a strong background in operations management and a proven ability to lead teams and drive efficiency? We are looking for a motivated Country Director to lead our growing operations in Senegal and help African Clean Energy (ACE) achieve its mission. As we are starting to build and expand our business, we are looking for a hands-on candidate who is able to fulfil the role of Country Director being responsible for our activities in Senegal including the operational set up and operational excellence of four office locations throughout the country. Next to that you’ll play a critical role in recruiting, building and training the different teams and play an active role in establishing and expanding our business in the Senegalese market.

At African Clean Energy, you will:

(Operational Strategy and Execution) 

  • Ensure operational excellence within the Senegal operations locations.
  • Building and managing the supply chain & logistics, sales, consumer finance, service & maintenance and call centres with our Senegal sites, with a strong focus on the (fuel) supply chain and sales. 
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive operational plan for Senegal.
  • Oversee the efficient functioning of branch operations and ensure alignment with company goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Continuously identify opportunities to increase efficiency and inprove the customer experience. 
  • Manage day-to-day operations activities for the Senegalese locations. 

(Supply Chain, Finance and Logistics)

  • Manage and monitor supply chain activities, including the importation of components and distribution of products to branch locations.
  • Support the finance team with budget planning, expenditure tracking, and optimizing costs across operations.
  • Oversee warehouse and inventory management to ensure sufficient stock for sales and maintenance.
  • Developing a sustainable biomass fuel supply chain to enhance ACE’s core business, increase environmental impact, and generate additional revenue

(Customer sales and & After-Sales Support)

  • Ensure all customer service and after-sales teams are equipped and trained to deliver the best possible support to ACE customers.
  • Collaborate with customer feedback teams to address any challenges or service gaps.
  • Develop strategies to maximize loan repayment rates while maintaining positive customer relationships.

(Team leadership & Development)

  • Recruit, train, and supervise a motivated and high-performing team across branches.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set targets, and provide ongoing guidance to ensure employees reach their potential.
  • Foster a work environment that embraces ACE’s values and mission.

(Compliance and reporting)

  • Ensure all operational activities comply with local regulations and company policies.
  • Maintain data integrity and ensure accurate reporting on operational metrics, financials, and sales performance.

We’d really like to hear from you if you have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 7+ years of relevant experience in operations, supply chain management, or logistics.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and multiple locations.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience with budgeting and operational planning.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems (Salesforce preferred), data analysis tools, and other operational software.
  • Experience in setting up and building new business operations (big plus).
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Fluency in English and French is required. Knowledge of Wolof or other local languages is a plus.
